The Samsung is not the only brand which offers “Always on Display” feature. But different models of Samsung are best in providing features rich always on display screen. Galaxy S9 has taken another step and added a new feature for its always on display screen.

Samsung has launched this feature silently for its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 plus and now you can show moving image i.e. a GIF file on this display screen.
The idea is very simple, just like you can see the time, date and a custom msg on your always on display, now you can see GIFs as well. This will be a good addition for those who want their mobile more stylish and interactive all the time.

The same feature now will be available on the previous model i.e. Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 provided that these two models are updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. If this is the case they can download the Always on Display (AOD) update which allows them to use a GIF file on their AOD screen. A user can either use the image of his own choice, or he can select from the images preloaded in the Samsung mobiles.
Remember: If you use this feature, your mobile will consume more battery.
How to use GIF file for Always on Display on Galaxy S9, S9+
It is very simple, no rocket science is involved in it. Just navigate to Settings » Lock screen and security » Always On Display. From here you have to select either “Clock” option or “Home Button and Clock” option.
Now go back to Lock screen and security option and from here select Clock and FaceWidgets option. From Clock style you can check different styles available for your clock widget.

Now to use GIF, scroll the screen to the left and select the style which shoes Time, Day, Date and a big box as shown in the image below.
Now you can use your favorite GIF file which you have saved in your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ gallery or you can use the preloaded GIF files as well.
If you want to use the GIF of your own choice, click on the plus sign and from the gallery, select the GIF of your own choice.
If you want to use the preloaded GIF, then from the bottom of the screen, click on Add GIF and select the GIF from available options.
After the selection of your favorite GIF, click on Apply and its done.
Now you can see the moving object every time when you turn off the display and Always on Display screen appears. But the GIF file will run only once and after that file image will be visible but it will be still. If you want to run the file again, you can tap on the image and the animated image will run again for once.
