Once Apple’s iOS was leading the tablets’ industry but recently Gartner has issued the report which states that Android has taken over Apple and became the largest tablets operating system. Out of 195 million tablets of the last year, 61.9% of them had the Android operating system. Though, the market share of Apple is decreased from 52% to 36% in the last year, but the company still managed to have the boost in their sales by 9 million. On the other hand, the market share of Microsoft gained a little increase to 2.1%

In terms of market share of the manufacturer, Apple secures the top position with twice the sales of Samsung. Though the share of Korean based company had the mind blowing boost to 336% in sale; it still holds the second position.
The third company having the top market share in the tablet industry is ASUS. It’s Nexus 7 and Transformer tablets received huge appreciation worldwide and have 5.6% of the total market share while Amazon is placed at number four with its Kindle Fire tablets.

Like smartphone market, Lenovo has also been experiencing the growth in tablet industry and captured 3.3% of the market share. The company is very popular in china but will it be able to attract the user in the countries outside China? This is yet to be seen in the coming years.
